It's Time to "Shine"!!!!

Our back-to-school cleaning times are here and we have set two dates to get this done before school starts!

Wednesday, September 3rd, 8am-Noon
Thursday, September 11th, 8am-Noon
(PAT meeting will be a quick gathering at 8am on the 11th)

All families are needed, along with children, to help with cleaning in every classroom. Cleaning supplies are here, but we need anyone to bring their cleaning implements such as brushes, steam cleaners for stairwells, buckets, cleaning gloves, dusters for ceiling cobwebs, etc. Make sure to bring water to drink and snacks will be provided.
Shawna Rae Johnson and Claudette Phillips are overseeing this project and will be the ones to check in with for directions when you arrive. Come for all or part of the cleaning times!!!

Career/College Night Volenteers Needed

Alliance Charter Academy is having its first Career/College night on October 21, 2008, from 7:30-9:00. This will be a job fair type of event with students moving from table to table checking out different careers and college information. This evening will count toward a requirement the state has of career investigation and we will be encouraging all high school students to attend.

We know that Alliance Charter Academy has a pool of very talented parents with many interesting careers. We are asking anyone that would be comfortable sharing in small groups to help us. If you would like to share your experiences please let us know you will be available so that we can get you further information.

Fall 2008 Catalog and Schedules are out!

The Fall class schedule, course description book, school and class calendar, and allotment information is in the CLASSES section.
Your ESes will be meeting with you in the next two weeks to collaborate on the Personalized Learning Plans for your children.
After these plans are created, course request and curriculum orders will be turned in to the office for processing.

Curriculum orders will be charged 80% of retail cost and as we continue to build up our inventory that percentage will go down. Last year it was 100%. Consumables will continue to be 100% because,well, they are consumable!  Everyone is charged the same and it's the luck of the draw whether you get new or used. It seems however, that most of the curriculum inventory is still in your homes! If you are going to use the items you have kept over the summer for this school year, write their ACA # on the curriculum order beside their description. These items still need to be brought in for bar coding by August 18th and your allotments will be charged for them as for any other order.

The new Course Book has class fees listed for all classes. As part of our effort to build a sustainable program, there will be a $1 per hour fee for all classes. ACA has 30 weeks of classes so a one hour a week class will have a class fee of $30. Class fees are charged to the allotments.

Please note that new students to ACA are invited to take a math placement test with our math department head, Diane Dennis.  Please call ACA at 503-785-8556 for days and times.

For families and staff that picked up their schedules at Open House, please note that there was a mistake in the times for French II on Mo/We.  The attached schedules have the corrected grade levels and times. 

If you have any questions, your ESes will be able to answer them at your initial meeting.
